A global list of the world top 100 companies is on the verge of becoming an internet sensation, after its creators unveiled it in a new survey.
The global survey, released by technology-focused research company The Irish Tribune, revealed that Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, Microsoft Corp, Twitter, Netflix and Airbnb are now listed in more than half of the most-visited countries in the world.
The top 100 list, compiled by the global consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers, was first revealed by The Irish Daily Times in March.
The data is based on a survey of more than 5,000 people worldwide.
“I have been using the internet since I was in grade school,” said Dr Mark Coggan, who led the study and published the results.
“We found that the internet is not just a tool but an enabler for communication and the sharing of ideas.”
The internet is the most important social media platform in the history of the planet.
It has become a key part of our lives.
“The Irish Tribune first published the list in March and has since revealed the full list online.
Dr Cogans research team used data from a survey that asked about what kind of company a person was most likely to work for.
The survey was conducted in December by Pricewater, a global consultancy, that also examined the most popular search terms in the country.
The list was ranked in order of how often a respondent used Google, the top social network and the most frequently searched for online.
The Irish Times asked participants if they would prefer to work at a “global” company, a “local” company or a “non-global” one.
More than half the respondents said they would like to work in a global company, according to the report.More:
